Dr Ophelia E. Dadzie, MBBS, FRCP, DipRCPath (Dermpath), MSc (Genomic Medicine)
London Ethnic Skin Limited was created and is run by Dr Ophelia E. Dadzie. Dr Dadzie is a Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist with longstanding expertise in the field of cutaneous diversity. A particular focus and interest of hers, has been addressing dermatological problems in people with moderate to more darkly pigmented skin of diverse ancestral backgrounds. London Ethnic Skin is involved in two main areas:
Research and development: We collaborate with a team of international researchers on skin colour science and are developing a software application to to classify skin colour (The Eumelanin Human Skin Colour Scale). The Eumelanin Human Skin Colour Scale once completed should have significant impact in skin biology, clinical practice and in cosmetic science. We have created and developed our own made in Britain cosmeceutical product line, Eumel, available via our Mia Pelle website.
Clinical: We provide clinical expertise in dermatology to patients of diverse skin and hair types.
Dr Dadzie is a Consultant Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist with longstanding expertise in the field of cutaneous diversity. Other achievements include:
- Previous Consultant to the Ethnic Skin and Hair Research Lab of Beiersdorf & previous Head of Jury for L'Oréal African Skin and Hair Research Grant
- Editor of two textbooks and a recognised speaker in the fields of Dermatology and Dermatopathology
- Extensive research experience in the field of dermatology, especially in relation to skin diversity, with her most recent work being the development of a new skin colour classification scale to describe the full spectrum of human skin colour
- Organised and run the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Ethnic Skin and Hair Course
